Quad biking in the Dubai desert: a complete guide

Where to ride, what licence you need, safety basics and how to combine it with a full evening safari.

Quad biking in the Dubai desert: a complete guide

Quad bikes are the most-requested add-on at our morning tours. Here's everything worth knowing before you sit on one.

Do you need a licence?

No driving licence is required for the standard 50cc and 250cc quads we run inside the safari area — riders are briefed and supervised on a closed dune track. For self-guided rentals on open desert, your home country driving licence is usually enough.

Safety basics

  • Always wear the helmet provided — non-negotiable
  • Closed-toe shoes only
  • Keep both hands on the bars, eyes 5 metres ahead, not down
  • No passengers on the 250cc bikes
  • Stick to the briefed track on the first run, then ask the instructor about widening the loop

How long is a ride?

Standard sessions are 30 minutes (good for first-timers) or 60 minutes (for confident riders). On our morning tours, we add the quad slot between dune bashing and the camel ride so you're warmed up but not exhausted.

Prices

Expect AED 175 for a 30-minute session on a 250cc, or AED 300 for 60 minutes. Dune buggies (2-seater, Polaris-style) start around AED 800 per vehicle for 30 minutes.

Can children ride?

Kids from 8 years can ride 50cc bikes with an instructor sitting behind. The 250cc bikes are 16+.
