Desert Safari Dubai with kids: a parent's honest guide
Which tour to pick, what age is OK, and the small details that make or break a desert safari with children.

Around four out of every ten guests we drive into the desert are travelling with children. Here is the candid version of what works, what doesn't, and how to keep everyone happy from pickup to dropoff.
Which tour is best for kids?
For most families, the Family Desert Safari or the standard Evening Safari with a gentler dune-bashing route is the sweet spot. Overnight tours work brilliantly from age 7 upwards, but younger kids tend to struggle with the temperature swing after midnight.
What age is dune bashing safe from?
Our policy is 3 years and above for dune bashing, with the intensity dialled down on request. Infants under 3 can join the camp programme by meeting us at the dunes by paved road, skipping the off-road section entirely.
The kids' play area
Most camps have a sand playground, swings, and short camel rides on a lead rope. Henna painting is universally a hit. The fire show is the only activity that can be loud — front-row seats only for kids 6+.
What to pack for children
- A change of clothes — sand gets everywhere
- A small torch for the camp
- Wet wipes (more than you think you need)
- A warm layer in winter — desert nights can hit 10°C
- Familiar snacks for picky eaters in case the buffet doesn't appeal
Booster seats and pushchairs
We provide child seats free of charge — please tell us the child's age at booking. Pushchairs are tricky on sand; a baby carrier works better at the camp.
