The best time of year for a Desert Safari in Dubai

A month-by-month look at temperatures, crowds, prices and photo conditions for a Dubai desert safari.

The best time of year for a Desert Safari in Dubai

The short answer: November to March. The long answer is more interesting, because every month in the Dubai desert has something going for it.

Peak season: November to March

Daytime 22–28°C, evenings 14–20°C. Comfortable for dune bashing, perfect for sitting outside at the camp, and the most reliable for clear sunset photography. The trade-off is price and availability — December and January book out two to three weeks ahead, and prices tend to be 15–25% higher than the summer.

Shoulder: April and October

Still pleasant, fewer crowds. April mornings are particularly good for camel trekking before the heat builds.

Summer: May to September

Hot — 40°C plus. Morning tours start earlier (we move pickups to 06:00), evening tours wait for the worst of the heat to pass, and overnight tours are surprisingly comfortable once the sun is down. Prices are at their lowest and the camp is much quieter. Sunset light is stronger and more dramatic in summer.

What about Ramadan?

Tours run as normal during Ramadan, but the dinner programme starts after Maghrib prayer (around sunset). It's actually a special time to visit — quieter dunes and a more traditional iftar at the camp.

What about rain?

Dubai gets, on average, three or four rainy days a year. If a tour is cancelled by us for weather, you get a full refund or a free reschedule.
