The best Desert Safari in Dubai: how to actually choose in 2026
Ten tour formats, one honest ranking — which Dubai desert safari is best for couples, families, photographers and first-timers.

'Best' is doing a lot of work in that phrase. The best desert safari in Dubai for a couple who want a proposal moment is not the best for a family with a 6-year-old, and neither is the best for a photographer chasing golden hour. Here is how we actually help guests choose.
The default answer: the Evening Desert Safari
If you only have one afternoon and no strong preferences, book the classic evening safari. Six hours door-to-door, includes dune bashing, sunset photos, camel ride, unlimited BBQ dinner and live shows for AED 30. It's cheap, it's complete, and it's why most reviewers rate the Dubai desert so highly.
Best for couples: VIP or Private
A shared 4x4 is fun, but for a first anniversary or honeymoon, spend the extra AED 145 on the VIP for a smaller camp, table service and priority camel access. For a proposal, jump to the fully private safari — your own 4x4, your own driver, and we can set up a private dune for the moment itself.
Best for families: Family Desert Safari
Purpose-built: gentler dune bashing, extended camp time so kids can run around, kids' menu at the buffet, and a coordinator dedicated to the family group. Children under 3 free, 3–10 half price.
Best for photographers: Sunrise Desert Safari
Pickup at 04:45 gets you to the Lahbab dunes for first light — empty sand, no other tour groups in frame, and the red sand at its most saturated. Includes camel trek and Arabic breakfast.
Best for adrenaline: Quad Bike + Evening combo
30 minutes on a 400cc quad, then the full evening safari. AED 205, single most-bought upgrade at booking.
Best for a bucket-list night: Overnight
Sleep in a Bedouin tent, watch the Milky Way with zero light pollution, wake up for sunrise breakfast. AED 140 all-in.
How to avoid the wrong choice
- Motion sickness or back issues → book any tour with a 'camp-only' transfer (skip dune bashing)
- Winter visitors → bring a warm layer regardless of tour
- Ramadan travellers → evening programme starts after Maghrib; overnight is the best format
- Under 3 hours in Dubai → skip the safari, do a desert conservation reserve day tour instead
